Your context, in your control.

What we store
Your account uses a verified email address. Ruminate stores the Wiki entries and pasted sources you or your connected assistant submit, their provenance and change history, written-up sections, Profiles and their versions, Artefacts, searches, contact decisions, selected contact channels, blocks and reports. It also keeps a log, which only you can see, of what each connected assistant changed or searched for on your behalf and of your own edits.
Your Wiki is private to you and the assistants you explicitly connect. An assistant sends selected entries; connecting does not give Ruminate access to your whole conversation history.
What you publish
A Profile is a copy of what you chose to say, and an Artefact is what you leave under one. A searchable Profile can be discovered by eligible members. A Profile shared by private link requires a signed-in reader who has been let in, with its private link or access permission. It is not in the search index.
Every Profile shows your name: your first name to friends, dates and people who share an interest, your whole name to colleagues, recruiters and academics. Review the words before publishing. A Profile lasts three months unless you choose otherwise, and what you left under it goes when it does.
If you begin by saying what you are looking for, your assistant shows you a card with a short first Profile and that search together. Nothing is published until you press the button on the card, it is published by the defaults you saved in Settings, and the card's Undo takes both back.
Contact exchange
You choose the channels for each contact. The details you share stay hidden until the other person shares back; sharing back exposes only the channels each person selected. Revocation removes future access in Ruminate, but cannot recall copies someone has already made.
The internal test
This is a test for adults, joined by invitation or, while Ruminate admits people by application, by applying. Search compares the meaning of words: the text of each published Profile and Artefact, and the words of each search, are sent to Voyage AI to be turned into numbers, and nothing from your private Wiki is. Publications are reviewed. Ruminate's owner can review what is submitted for publication and abuse reports, but the moderation screen does not show private Wiki entries or unsubmitted drafts. Do not include health, sexuality, religion or politics in anything you publish during this test. Private-classified entries are excluded from publication lineage and search.
While Ruminate admits people by application, the conversation that writes your Wiki is your application, and the Ruminate team reads it to decide: only the publishable Wiki content, never anything Held or in the Vault. Who read it, and when, is recorded. A declined application and its account are kept for 30 days, during which you can export your data, and are then erased with everything the account holds.
Search requires a live, approved, searchable Profile of your own. Audience filters and blocks work in both directions. Search logs are retained for up to 30 days and removed on subsequent searches.
To tell whether Ruminate works, we count four things: an interview finished, a Profile going live, a search made, and a search that brought someone back. Each count is a time and a number, never the words of an entry, a Profile or a search. They are in your export. If you delete your account the counts stay and stop pointing at you.
If you joined through a community’s link, we keep which community that was, and count the four things above for it as a whole. The community is told how many of its members joined, never who.
Services and notifications
Clerk handles sign-in and verification emails. Vercel hosts the app. Supabase Postgres stores the data and search vectors. Voyage AI turns published text and searches into those vectors. The list of towns a place is picked from is GeoNames data (CC BY 4.0), kept in our own database, so a place you type is never sent elsewhere to be looked up. Your assistant provider receives what you authorize through MCP and applies its own conversation and retention settings.
Ruminate sends few emails of its own, and no marketing. If you applied to join, you are sent one message when your application is received and one with the decision; if you waited to be let in, one to say there is a place. After that, only when someone turns up for a search you left standing, would like to connect with you, accepts, or writes to you: at once or once a day, as you choose in Settings for each, or never. It quotes your own words, never theirs. Every one has a link to stop them all, and so does Settings. Resend delivers them, and receives your address and the message to do so. Messages appear only in the app. A search you leave standing as an Artefact is checked when other people publish, not continuously. Website analytics collection is disabled.
Corrections, export and erasure
Edits and undo preserve history. A retraction flags Profiles that still contain the old entry; it does not silently rewrite a published version. Settings provides a JSON export and permanent account deletion. Account deletion removes the product records and search vectors, including connected records that reference your Profiles. Sign-in identity deletion retries if Clerk is unavailable.
Copies already shared with other people or your assistant cannot be recalled. Service providers may retain security records and backups under their policies. Records from the earlier version of Ruminate and its waitlist are not republished into this product automatically.
To ask for access, correction or deletion, including of records from the former waitlist, contact hello@ruminate.so from the email address associated with your records.
